Shaun Hu
New Media Artist
Shaun Hu is a new media artist based in Shanghai. He is a winner of the Future Art Award and the Chinese Digital Interactive Art Competition Gold Award. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and New York University, holds a Master of Science degree from the School of Engineering of New York University, and a Master of Arts degree from the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The interdisciplinary background of art and engineering makes his art combined with technology. He is expert in using digital technology to create multi-sensory experiences, works including digital art video, interactive installation, audiovisual performance, etc. He has created digital artworks and had artist joint events for commercial exhibitions and product promotions of many brands and cooperated with celebrities. His works have been exhibited in more than 60 exhibitions around the world and won many awards: 2022 Future Art Award (US), 2022 Chinese Universities Digital Interactive Art Competition (CN), 2022 Paris Cinema Awards Best Fantasy (FR), 2021 Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA (JP), 2021 enlightV Future Media Academy Award (CN), shortlisted for the Lumen Prize 2018 (UK), won 2016 Artand the Most Outstanding Young Artist of New Media Art (CN). He has also been interviewed on the media such as Ars Electronica and WIRED. In recent years, Shaun Hu has been actively participating in various art exhibitions and his works have been exhibited in well-known art museums and art institutions, including Beijing Guardian Art Center, Beijing Times Art Museum, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, CAFA Art Museum, National Agricultural Exhibition Center, The China Millennium Monument, Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing, Suzhou Bay Digital Art Museum, Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Arts, Deji Art Museum, Shanghai Himalayas Museum, Tianjin Art Museum, etc.
